Cell Phone Battery Tips

One of the biggest problems cell phone users face is battery reliability, after all there's nothing worse than being cut off mid conversation because your cell phones battery is useless.

Properly looked after a cell phone battery should be good for around 350 charge and discharge cycles before it needs replacing.

Below are some tips to ensure you get the best possible performance from your cell phones battery.

  • Recharging less frequently. Charging your phone every other day can double the life span of a cell phone battery to about two years, as opposed to one year for daily charges.
  • Try not to subject your phone and battery to extreme temperature conditions. Leaving it in the car on cold nights or on hot sunny days can have a detrimental effect on your cell phone battery.
  • Follow the manufacturers charging instructions, especially when you buy and first charge the cell phone.
  • Recharge your battery as soon as possible after it's discharged.
  • Don't leave your cell phone turned off for long periods of time. You may not be able to recharge it if left unused for a couple of months.
  • When purchasing a cell phone battery be aware that you get what you pay for. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) batteries, are batteries that are manufactured by the same company that manufactures your cell phone and usually come with a higher price tag. With an OEM battery you're getting the best possible battery for your particular phone model. However, you can also get good value out of a budget replacement battery. It depends on your needs.
  • Do not permanently leave your phone plugged into your car charger, as every time you start the car you reduce the phones battery life a little.
  • When removing your battery be sure you don't short out the contacts with any metal object, as this can have an adverse effect on it's performance and life span.
  • Make sure you use the correct phone charger for your model of phone.

Taking care of your cell phones battery will not only save you money in the long run, but can save a lot of frustration on a day to day basis.
